Senior Vice President, Head of Digital Media
Adam Ware is Tennis Channel’s senior vice president, head of digital media, joining the network in spring 2014. He has more than 25 years of media experience in a variety of concentrations, and has focused on building lasting sports and entertainment properties for some of the leading media companies in the world.
Based in Los Angeles, Ware oversees the continuation of the network’s extensive digital growth in recent years, including its Tennis Channel Everywhere app, the ongoing rollout of TV Everywhere accessibility and landmark over-the-top (OTT) digital-subscription service Tennis Channel Plus. The introduction of Tennis Channel Plus in 2014 turned the network’s Tennis Channel Everywhere app into the first that combined both an OTT subscription service and an authenticated TV Everywhere stream of a linear television channel – a hybrid approach that has since been adopted by other content providers. Ware’s profit-sharing model with Tennis Channel linear distribution partners also garnered industry and media attention at the time of Tennis Channel Plus’ launch.
Prior to joining Tennis Channel, Ware most recently acted as founder and principal of Aware Media Consulting, offering strategic counseling to media companies with a particular emphasis on digital media and emerging audiences. In that capacity, he was intimately involved in the development of select mobile and digital platforms for Tennis Channel, including the launch of the network’s app in 2013. Additional Aware Media clients included AOL, CJ Entertainment (Korea), Comcast Cable, Liberty Media, Boston Ventures Investment Partners and the United Talent Agency.
With a sizeable list of other new-network launches on his resume, Ware has held senior leadership positions within numerous television organizations, including FOX Broadcasting Company as senior vice president of distribution, USA Broadcasting as executive vice president, Home Shopping Network as executive vice president and Viacom owned United Paramount Network as chief operating officer. Some of Ware’s accomplishments include the launch and distribution of five nights of FOX Prime Time, FOX Sports, FOX Kids Network and the FX cable network, as well as the successful launches of WWE SmackDown, Star Trek Enterprise, Buffy the Vampire Slayer and the XFL football league on UPN.
Ware, a native of New York City, attended Vassar College and the University of California, Los Angeles. He lives in Beverly Hills, Calif., with his two children.
